The vocalist Al Jarreau will forever be remembered for his innovative talent, warm personality and inspiring music. Back in 2011, we had the good fortune to hang out with Al and discuss his prolific musical career. On this very special Jazz Online podcast, we chat with Al and discuss his artistry, creative process and the 1978 Grammy Award winning classic album Look To The Rainbow.

Jazz Backstage: Al Jarreau
Al Jarreau won the Grammy® for Best Jazz Vocal Performance in 1977 for the album Look To The Rainbow. The album’s success placed Al on the map as the leading jazz singer of the day. One of the album’s many highlights was Al’s brilliant vocal interpretation of the Paul Desmond classic “Take Five.” This track not only set a new benchmark for jazz singers to aspire to, but it is now considered legendary.
