Miles Davis Podcast: Frances Davis
Miles’ first wife Frances Davis has graced the covers of three of Miles’ greatest albums (In Person At The Blackhawk, Someday My Prince Will Come, E.S.P.) and was by the legend’s side during the period from the late 1950’s through the mid 1960’s. – Joseph Vella
On a recommendation from the legendary music executive Chris Blackwell, I contacted Frances and met with her in Los Angeles. I conducted this interview outdoors on the beautiful grounds at the Sunset Marquis Hotel. Frances witnessed the genius of Miles first hand and on this episode, she shares her personal recollections of her life (and love) with Miles.
Frances recommends these recordings:
Lift To The Scaffold
Cookin’ with the Miles Davis Quintet
1958 Sessions
Sketches of Spain
Someday My Prince Will Come
